Privacy Policy

Last updated:

SHEMIM (“we”, “us”) operates TorahML at torahml.com. This privacy policy explains how the free, alpha-stage research site processes requests, preferences and visitor logs.

Operator. SHEMIM, New York, USA. Contact: [email protected].

What we collect and why

  1. Research requests. The service processes the words, passages and queries you submit to return results. Requests are sent to our server; do not include sensitive personal information. Public readers do not create accounts.
  2. Optional name search. Clicking Search names in Gematria sends the text in that search field from our server to Wikidata to retrieve name candidates. This does not run automatically. We keep a bounded in-memory response cache rather than saving a name-search dataset. Selected names and reference IDs can be included in the result URL you choose to share. See Wikimedia’s privacy policy.
  3. Browser preferences. Your browser stores display choices and your last reading position locally. See the exact keys in our Cookies & browser storage policy. These preferences are not analytics.
  4. Security and delivery. Server logs contain IP address, requested URL (which can include query text), user agent and request time. We use them for security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting. The basis for this processing, where applicable, is our legitimate interest in a secure, available service.
  5. Messages you send us. If you email us, we use the email address and content you provide to respond to your inquiry, at your request.

We run no analytics, advertising, social tracking pixels or cross-site tracking. We do not sell personal data.

Feedback you send

When you submit feedback, we store the type, message, optional reply email, page and feature context, the page URL, app version, viewport size and submission time. Useful / not-useful votes store the feature and result target, vote counts and time. Feedback records do not store your IP address.

We use feedback to improve TorahML and to reply if you give an email address. Written feedback and votes are retained for 12 months, stored on our server (OVHcloud US), and included in our encrypted backups. The full written feedback and your optional reply email address are emailed to the operator through Cloudflare Email Service. Request deletion via [email protected]; include enough detail to locate your submission.

Processors and third parties

These providers process request metadata to deliver and protect the service. Cloudflare operates a global network, so request data may be processed outside your country. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy and OVHcloud US’s privacy policy. Following an external source link takes you to a site governed by its own policy.

Retention

Visitor server logs (nginx and system journal) are kept for 14 days for security and abuse prevention, then expire. Browser preferences remain on your device until you clear site data or change them. Email correspondence is retained as needed to answer your inquiry and handle any resulting relationship. Providers apply their own retention policies to data they process.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your data, and to receive a copy. We do not sell or share data for advertising. Contact [email protected] to make a request. EU/EEA/UK visitors may complain to their data protection authority. We may need information to locate a request in short-lived logs; we do not maintain a public user profile.
